What You Can DO:

You can take positive steps to reduce or eliminate the occurrence of mold growth in your home, office, or building and there by minimize any possible adverse effects that may be caused by mold. These steps include the following:

Before bringing items into the home, office or building check for signs of mold. Potted plants (roots and soil), furnishings, or stored clothing and bedding materials, as well as many other household goods, could already contain mold growth.

Regular vacuuming and cleaning will help reduce mold spore levels. Properly diluted detergent solutions are effective cleaning materials that may have mold growth on their surface. However, material with embedded mold must be removed and disposed.

Keep the humidity in the home, office, or building low. Vent clothes dryers to the outdoors. Ventilate kitchens and bathrooms by opening the windows, by using exhaust fans, or by running air conditioning to remove excess moisture in the air, and to facilitate evaporation of water from wet surfaces.

Promptly clean up spills, and other sources of moisture. Wet materials should be dried quickly or they may end up needing replaced. Elite Restoration is trained in the latest techniques to dry wet building materials quickly.

Inspect for leaks on a regular basis. Look for discolorations or wet spots. Repair any leaks promptly. Inspect condensation pans (refrigerators and air conditioners) for mold growth. Take notice of musty odors throughout and keep an eye on any visible signs of mold.

Should mold develop, thoroughly clean the affected area with a diluted detergent solution, testing to see if the affected area or material is color safe before use.
